Water, and its supply, is a very public topic at the moment. Most businesses have been metered for the last few years and for many this has made them more aware of water use.

In Kerry, for example, one year after water meters were installed, consumption in the commercial sector was down by 12%.
Increased awareness is one thing; knowledge about different improvement options is another. During a recent project with Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), the Clean Technology Centre developed a water tool for the Fish-Processing sector. This tool will be adapted to cater for business in general and, with a benchmarking tool which is currently being developed by the Cork County Council LAPN programme, will provide a very useful water tool for local authorities to use.
